Why we started urgentic
Our founders spent over 25 years building and running enterprise SOCs — the kind with eight-figure budgets and rooms full of analysts. And even there, it wasn't enough. They watched talented analysts burn out under impossible alert volumes, saw critical incidents missed on weekends, and watched millions of dollars go into tools that still couldn't keep up.
If that's what "enough" security looked like at the top end, everyone below it was defenseless by comparison. SMBs couldn't get near that level of protection — not because they didn't need it, but because they could never afford it. Meanwhile the threats they faced were the same ones the enterprise was struggling with, just with none of the budget to fight back.
And those threats kept getting harder. Attackers started using AI too — automating reconnaissance, writing polymorphic malware on the fly, running social engineering at a scale and speed no human red team could match. The old model of defense, built around analysts triaging alerts one at a time, wasn't just strained.
